Nice 4th

We have established a tradition of playing miniature golf in Colorado Springs and then going to our favorite barbecue spot, then going home and waiting until it's almost dark and Dave and the kids scurrying off with treats to watch the Sedalia fireworks.

Our favorite barbecue spot which used to be Red, Hot and Blues, has changed. The food started tasting dried out and like it had been warmed over from the night before. A friend suggested going to Famous Dave's. Then another friend upon being told that we were thinking about going there said how good the barbecue was and to order the family feast and that she has gone to a Famous Dave's in her hometown of Kalispell, Montana.

I love little coincidences*, so we went to Famous Dave's and ordered the feast for four. It was so moist, so succulent, even if it was served on a garbage can lid, we ate and ate, and brought home a big bag of leftovers for us to serve to ourselves rather than being served them from a restaurant that wasn't as good as it used to be.

As usual, I stayed home from the fireworks and used the time to have fun alone doing laundry and watering the garden. I know it sounds lame, but it's a real treat to be alone and be able to do whatever I want.

I enjoyed our 4th, which also included a nap after eating that large meal.

**Also in the morning I was working on a crossword puzzle from our local Tidbits newspaper and it inferred that Cousin It from the Addams Family was spelled Itt, which I never knew, and just then Dave, who was reading the latest issue of the New Yorker, confirmed from an article that Cousin It is indeed spelled correctly as Cousin Itt. That's a darn helpful coincidence, just when I needed it.
